Sealrite Elastomers

Rubber & Other Elastomers

Rubber and other rubber like elastomers possesses mechanical properties that make them excellent for use in a wide range of general industrial applications including fluid sealing. Many synthethic elastomers in particular are engineered to resist a range of chemicals and reduce the ageing effect common to natural rubber. This makes these materials suitable for use as gaskets, seals, covers, linings and mats.Sealrite offers a wide range or rubber materials in sheet or roll form. They may be used for a wide range of applications as well as sealing material.

Natural Rubber
Made from the latex of rubber tress, natural rubber is an economical material for general sealing and insulation applications. It has relatively high tensile strength, excellent electrical resistvity, good low temperature flexibility and relativiely low permanent set. Not suitable for use with hydrocarbons, oils or solvents and will deteoriate over time if exposed to oxygen or ozone. Natural rubber is available with or without rubber insertion.

Neoprene
Neoprene (polychloroprene) is a synthethic elastomer that is resistant to ozone, hydrocarbons and shows good resistiviity to electirc current. A versatile material with better weather resistance than natural rubber, it is widely used in industry as a general gasket material for low pressure and low temperature applications. Available with or without one ply fabric insertion.

Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR)
NBR is a synthethic elastomer that is resistant to many chemicals, oils and solvents. Often use as a general purpose oil resistant material, it is widely use as a gasket material, in oil lining for machinery, for oil well parts and in hydraulic equipment. Not recommended for use as electircal insulation.

Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer(EPDM)
EPDM is a synthethic elastomer that displays excellent resistance to ozone and relatively good resistance to acids and alkalines. It also has good heat resistance and high electrical resistivity. However it may be susceptable to attack by oils. Recomended for use with phosphate ester based hydraulic fluid but not with petroleum based fluids. It is commonly used as gaskets, in automotive parts and as cover strips.

Silicone (Si)
Silicone is a synthethic siloxane polymer that displays excellent dielectric properties, high resistance to oxidation and very good heat resistance. It is odourless and tasteless and is commonly used in consumer products. Silicone sheets may be used for gaskets, weatherproofing and electrical insulation. Not recommended  for use with steam, oils or hydrocarbons.
